Duck diving: How to get underwater with your board (Infographic)

Duck diving is the technique used by surfers to get under waves with their boards. It's time to master this skill to get where you want to be.

It takes practice to master this skill, but with these easy steps, you'll be out practicing in no time:

Step 1: Paddle hard

It is important to gain speed before hitting the wait. Forward momentum will help you get all the way through

Step 2: Start before you hit the wave

Make sure you start before the wave gets to you first

Step 3: Push the front down and forward

Grab the rails and lean your body forward to sink the tip

Step 4: Push the tail

Use your foot or knee to do this. This is important to pass the wave

Step 5: Bring your body to the board

Penetrate the wave with the tip pointing down.

Step 6: Resurface

Congratulations! You made it to the other side.
